Here we met up with Joe and Frances.
After lunch our leader suggested they should ride home via Calbeck, over Calbeck Common to turn down to Longlands to climb over to the lovely quiet setting of Overwater. A lumpy road this was until arriving finally at Orthwaite then the route dropped down and down to turn through Parkwood to arrive at Bassenthwaite Village. Then to Castle Inn junction to reach Ouse Bridge at the head of Bassenthwaite Lake, Sailing club and Dubwath and the A66 yet again to the Thornthwaite junction to take to the old road to Braithwaite for a bit of peace and quiet: the end of a challenging trip.

She still arrived before the pub opened and was glad to see Roy arrive from the Dean direction. He had cycled from Keswick and had come via Pardshaw. The Wild Duck was very nice and quite busy but Roy and Dianne were the only two Sociables that day. They headed back via Dean and Eaglesfield and parted company at Paddle School after deciding Wednesday's meeting place would be the Brewer's Fayre, Cockermouth.
